London Design Week
Posted on September 11 2017
It's London Design Week approaching! Arguably one of London's greatest weeks, as 'design capital of the world'; as many people say.
Our favourite part of the week is Decorex. It is a feast for the eyes, and every year inspires, excites and propels interiors and design to new paths. Held in Syon Park, it is the grand opening to London's Design Week. With over 400 exhibitors, both old favourites and emerging brands to keep an eye on, you can find yourself wondering around for hours. And as this year celebrates Decorex's 40th year, it plans to be bigger and better than ever.
To mention but a few, here are some of the stands we will be heading straight to -
A Rum Fellow - since first featuring at Decorex in 2014, their company has been on the Decorex to-watch list every year. With stunning maya brocades woven on backstrap looms, and cushions to totally swoon over, their stand will be no wallflower.
Ptolemy Mann - has a beautiful distinctive style. Her use of weaving and dyeing blend together beautifully to create rugs like art work.
Jan Kath - reappears with his Erased Heritage hand-knotted rug collection - a blend of classic Persian design along with his renowned distressed effects. A world famous rug designer, his work is honestly like no other.
For another large exhibition, head to London DesignFair, in trendy East London, 21st-24th Sept. Here, there are over 450 stands, ranging from independent artists, established brands and exhibitions spaces from around the world. This year, a "resurgent US design scene". will bring together 14 designers from across the country whose furniture designs are built from everyday materials such as coffee and cement...worth investigating! Make sure to also pop by the British Craft Pavilion to support some local talent.
